After years of planning, the Board of Directors of the Towanda Public Library are pleased to announce the automation of the library. As of 10:00 AM on Friday, November 19, 2010 (cross every finger!),
patrons will check out books and other materials with their very own library card. See the Online Catalog tab at the top of this page for instructions and access to the “new” PAC (patron access catalog). As always, please come in or call (536-2464) with questions.
November 17 – last November storytime.
November 19 – Go Live date for automation.
December 5 – FOTL Holiday Home Tour
The automation project is steaming ahead – our “Go Live” date is November 19. Patrons: Come in any time and get your new library card, so you will be ready to check out on the 19th. Be sure to visit our FOTL (Friends of the Library) page to get information on the Holiday Home Tour and the Library’s Diamond Jubilee.
New Books include: John Grisham’s The Confession; Michael Connelly’s The Reversal; Steven James’ The Bishop, The Knight; Lee Child’s Worth Dying For; Jan Karon’s In the Company of Others; Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven; David Baldacci’s True Blue and many others.
New DVD’s: Karate Kid, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Iron Man 2, Catch Me If You Can, Prince of Persia, How to Train Your Dragon, Stardust, A Time to Kill, Toy Story 2 and 3, The Emperor’s New Groove, Beauty and the Beast, and Russell Crowe’s version of Robin Hood. Some new kid movies, too!!!

May 20, 3:30-5:30 Summer Reading Kick off Party: Come join us for snacks and sign up for the Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is: Make a Splash – Read! We are planning lots of crafts, water activities, special events (water gun fights, visit from the Fire Department, Pirate Party), and good books to celebrate Summer at the Towanda Public Library. Get signed up and start reading.
May 21, 11:00 – 2:00, 5:00 – 7:00 Monterreys. Towanda Public Library’s Friends of the Library will be preparing and serving their world famous Monterreys one day only this year: Friday, May 21 during lunch and dinner hours. Stop in and fill up between shopping at all the garage sales in town that weekend.
July 22, Towanda Public Library’s Annual Ice Cream Social – Save the date!
Watch for the Holiday Home Tour on December 5 which kicks off the Library’s 75th Anniversary Year.
