Five Star Reads

Towanda Public Library Posted on July 30, 2012 by LibraryStaffJuly 30, 2012

Here are some recommendations from our patrons, who have enjoyed these books enough to tell you about them:

After by Amy Efaw.  “I read this book in ONE day — it was fantastic — I cried.”

Best Kept Secrets by Sandra Brown.  “Can’t put it down!”

Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks.  “Great Story.  Who knew a Native American went to Harvard in 1665?!”

Rose Haven by Catherine Coulter.  “Very good book.  Quite entertaining.  Makes you laugh!”

The Visionary by Pamela S. Thibodeaux.  “It kept me wanting more.”

The Welcome Committee of Butternut Creek by Jane Myers Perrine.  “I laughed all the way through this book.  I know people like this — me!”

Summer Reading Wrap-Up

Towanda Public Library Posted on July 23, 2012 by LibraryStaffJuly 23, 2012

We’ve got a busy week here at Towanda Public Library, with Summer Reading ending.  So be sure to meet your goals and join us for parties, ice cream, and prizes!

This afternoon we’ll wrap up the Adult Summer Reading with our discussion of Night by Elie Weisel, and we’ll give away the much-anticipated raffle prizes.

Wednesday is the last day for kids to turn in their reading booklets and get prizes.  Wednesday evening we’ll have our pool party at the Towanda swimming pool.  (Remember, kids need to bring their invitations to get in!)

And don’t forget to join us Thursday for our annual Ice Cream Social.  We’ll have all different flavors of homemade ice cream, both sugar free and regular.  There will also be an assortment of other treats.  The El Dorado Municipal Band will be playing all the classics, and we’ll be taking raffle donations for Milo Smalley’s beautiful blue quilt.

See you at the library!
