Visiting Author James Ayers
Guest Author James Ayers at Towanda Public Library
Local author James Ayers will read from and discuss his new book, “From the Mists of Eden,” at Towanda Public Library on November 10 from 10 am to noon. The book is an adaptation of 11 stories from Genesis, told as stories from a family from long ago.
Ayers has been a pastor for over 30 years and has a Ph.D. from Boston College. His first book, “Finding the Story: Hard Texts, Homiletical Narrative, and Hearing God’s Voice” was aimed at pastors seeking to relate Bible verses as stories. “From the Mists of Eden” will find a more general audience, and people will feel a closer connection to the well-known but distant-feeling stories of Genesis if they are presented as if they are told by an uncle or a sister.
He will have a question and answer session after the reading, and will have copies of the book available to sign and purchase for $20.
