BOOKS FOR CHILDREN Libri Grant 2015

Towanda Public Library Posted on October 14, 2015 by LibraryStaffOctober 14, 2015

fbpost1

This year, Towanda Public Library was fortunate to receive the BOOKS FOR CHILDREN grant from the Libri Foundation as well as an additional grant for Math & Science Books. The Libri Foundation is a nationwide non-profit organization that quality children’s books to rural public libraries.

This was an awesome gift for the library and includes a wide variety of titles for all ages and reading levels. We introduced them during our first fall story time and the books have been literally flying off the shelf since we received them. The books are also available for InterLibrary Loan (ILL) and will be shared through the state of Kansas resource sharing system. The potential to reach even more children through the ILL system makes the gift even better!

With over 80 books and a combined retail value of this grant was just under $1850 making a significant addition to our annual book budget. This includes $350 worth of math & science books provided through an additional gift from Bill Strawbridge and Meg Wallhagen. Our local homeschool families are raving about the quality and content of the books as they supplement their curriculum. We would like to invite you to come in to the library and check them out…..
